Description
The impressive pillar with its carvings comes from the Swat Valley in Pakistan. Both religious buildings and rooms and objects of everyday life were provided with these elaborate carvings. This region, until 1969 a princely state, is characterized in its culture by Buddhism.
The article comes from a religious building that was dismantled in 2010 due to heavy flooding and replaced by concrete structures.
